Jaeger Geophysic E168 The 50’s were important for scientific explorations and expeditions to the most extreme parts of the world. These explorers were respected people and relied on sturdy watches. Jaeger-LeCoultre wanted to contribute to these fascinating professionals by launching the Geophysic in 1958, during the first international Geophysical year. A proud moment in the history of the brand as it was used in the first (three day) submersion from one ocean to another via the most direct route, underneath the ice sheet covering the arctic. Why did their crew used the E168? It is an ultra-precise chronometer (Cal. 478BWSbr) housed in a sturdy steel case with an extra inner-case to protect the movement from the effect of magnetism. A couple of years back Jaeger-LeCoultre made a tribute to this model but we rather go for the original. Few over a thousand pieces were produced back in 1958 and they rarely are offered for sale.
