Any self-respecting watch manufacture needs a sporty chronograph in its line up. Audemars Piguet thought just that when it introduced the impressive Royal Oak Chronograph in 1997.
To celebrate the Royal Oak’s 25th anniversary in 1997, Audemars Piguet announced the release of the first-ever Royal Oak with a chronograph functionality. The use of the classic ‘Jumbo’ case, similar in size and style to the original Royal Oak from 1972, together with an ultra-thin automatic chronograph movement gives the watch a sleek and refined profile, while retaining its luxury sporty looks.
This 25860 dates back to 2003 and features the iconic Geralda Genta-designed 39 mm stainless steel case together with the matching stainless steel integrated bracelet. The bluish-gray dial sports Audemars Piguet’s classic ‘Grande Tappisserie’ together with three recessed Art Deco sector-style sub-registers. Meanwhile, a discreet aperture between the 4 and 5 o’clock position provides a handy date function.
This ref. 25860ST is in super crisp condition with sharp beveled edges. The watch just returned from a full service at our trusted Audemars Piguet service center, as attested to by the accompanying service papers, and comes as a full set with the original box and papers.
Audemars Piguet is among the holy trinity Swiss maisons d’horlogerie alongside Patek Philippe and Vacheron Constantin. Audemars Piguet has a storied history of producing high-complication watches. It all started in 1875, when Jules Louis Audemars and Edward Auguste Piguet founded the company in the heart of the Vallée de Joux, Le Brassus, Switzerland. This pure, rough and wild landscape, with deep, dark forests, ice-cold waters and the omnipresence of rocks and hills, provided inspiration and raw materials for the Swiss watch manufacture to develop the finest watches. Since its inception, Audemars Piguet has specialized in rare, valuable and highly-complicated watches like perpetual calendars, chronographs and chiming watches. Nowadays, the emphasis of Audemars Piguet lies on the iconic Royal Oak line.
