We are fortunate enough to present our dear customers this beautiful Heuer Autavia 2446C. Forgotten by many as a result of this year’s Daytona madness but certainly not an inferior chronograph. This Heuer Autavia with reference 2446C dates back to 1970 and is in great condition. Of course the case and its bezel look a bit rugged but if you don’t like that, maybe a vintage toolwatch is not the right choice for you.The watch has a solid case size of 40 millimeter, is made from stainless steel and comes with a leather strap of choice. This amazing piece runs on one of the most reputable chronograph calibers ever made, Valjoux’ hand wounded caliber 72.The watch looks amazing with the thick case, beveled lugs and its sturdy black bezel. The watch’s reference contains the letter ‘C’ which stands for the fact that the watch is provided with an by Heuer adjusted compressor case. This is a case-sealing method that makes the case more water resistant when water pressure increases. The basis of the watch’s compressor case was made by EPSA, a very respected case builder which made compressor cases for dozens of brands over the years. Unfortunately Heuer just used the basis of EPSA’s case and provided it with a snap-back case back and pump pushers for the chronograph. So be smart and definitely don’t take a dive with this piece. As you have read the Heuer Autavia is not just an average chronograph watch but one of the coolest ever made. This Autavia is right in front of us and unfortunately many are just too blind to see it. So be that cool kid and pick up this stunning piece before it leaves us.
Heuer AutaviaThe Autavia started out as a dashboard clock back in the early 30s. In 1962, after Jack Heuers was named the new CEO, they turned this timing-devive into a wristwatch. Autavia stands for AUTomotive & AVIAtion and was the first Heuer chronograph with the model name on the dial. It was about to strengthen the position of Heuer in the sports chronograph market, especially after famous Swiss Racing driver Jo Siffert chose the Autavia as his loyal wrist companion. It was the first model were they introduced the rotating bezel, a very interesting feature that, over the years, came in many varieties. (for example: GMT bezel, Diver bezel, hour bezel etc.)
