In the ‘60s and ‘70s Rolex introduced some of its most memorable models. One of them is the Rolex Date 1500, which was launched in 1962. The Date was available in stainless steel, 14k and 18k yellow- and white-gold. The dials were signed 'Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified' and the watch had an Oyster case measuring 34mm in diameter, which made it a piece that could be sported at the office, during a ball or while hanging out with your buddies. This beauty from '77 has a stainless steel case and bezel and comes on an Oyster bracelet. The watch is powered by a caliber 1570, which is a reliable, robust movement. This dress watch, with the date and cyclops displayed at the 3-hour position, is the perfect watch for the elegant and sportive man.
Introduction
Rolex DateAs many of you would probably know, Rolex was the first watchmaker who created a full water- and dustproof case in the year 1926, twenty-one years after de foundation of the company. The innovation that actually led to the creation of this case was Rolex’s patented “Screw down crown” in combination with its two-piece screw-down case. This was the start of the Oyster series. It certainly lives up to its name because the watch is waterproof like an actual oyster that protects its pearl from seawater. This attribute protects the movement of the wristwatch. Later, the Date function on the dial was added, which was the birth of the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date.
