As many of you would probably know, Rolex was the first watchmaker who created a full water- and dustproof case in the year 1926, twenty-one years after de foundation of the company. The innovation that actually led to the creation of this case was Rolex’s patented “Screw down crown” in combination with its two-piece screw-down case. This was the start of the Oyster series. It certainly lives up to its name because the watch is waterproof like an actual oyster that protects its pearl from seawater. This attribute protects the movement of the wristwatch. Later, the Date function on the dial was added, which was the birth of the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date.
