Rolex Day-Date 18038

The essence of luxury time-keeping.

Think of the watch that a president would wear. You will probably imagine a watch that has status, portrays hard work, responsibility, success, power, respect and you will probably (if not, definitely) be thinking of the Rolex Day-Date. No wonder that Kennedy, Johnson, Ford, Reagan, Nixon and Roosevelt all wore one. Sure, they were not the only proud wearers as this watch has been sported by many government leaders, athletes, entrepreneurs, musicians and artists. The Day-Date is just the perfect choice for any person that has success! The Rolex Day-Date was the first automatic, waterproof chronometer wristwatch that indicated the date and the day of the week. The 18000-series, the fourth generation of Day-Dates, were introduced in 1978 and housed the caliber 3055, which means that these pieces have a single quickset-function.
The Day-Date is often seen with a champagne-gold dial but this piece offered by Amsterdam Vintage Watches has a very nice blue dial. The bracelet is in excellent condition and still has the vintage fold over clasp. Rolex stopped delivering these clasps somewhere in 1978. The watch has barely been polished and is in excellent condition. It is protected by a sapphire crystal, which gives the watch a modern, fresh look. This piece dates back to ’78, so it’s a very early reference 18038.
