Rolex Submariner 1680 “Red MK2 Full set”

We are fortunate enough to present you one of the most collectible Submariner Date at the moment. A beautiful, distinctive timepiece, better known as the ‘Red Sub’

This Rolex Submariner with reference 1680 dates from the year 1970 and is absolutely stunning! The watch has a case size of 40 millimeter and is made out of stainless steel. The watch is powered by caliber 1575 and comes with an original 9315 folded Oyster bracelet and 380 stamped end links.

This piece, almost 50 years old, is still one of the coolest Submariners ever made. The watch owes its nickname, for the people who haven’t noticed it yet, to the red ‘SUBMARINER’ text on the deep black dial. This diver is equipped whit the Mark II dial which is characterised by the ‘meters first’ depth indication and its distinctive ‘open 6’s’ in ‘660Ft’. A rare and early configuration that is very sought-after.

Coming with the original bezel and insert, original plexi crystal (which we left unpolished, slightly scratched) and as the cherry on top: box, papers, some service history and even the original receipt. Both painful and funny to see this watch was once sold at 124 pounds! I doubt if there are any better examples left concerning the Red 1680…
