In 1992 the Rolex Yacht-Master, under reference 16628, made its appearance to the market. The 16628 is an 18k yellow-gold wrist watch with a case diameter of 40 mm, a white dial, black hour markers and the caliber 3135.We specialize in the Rolex models that have shaped the brand, that were there from the beginning. Models that were introducted during the '40s, '50s and '60 like the Datejust, Submariner and Daytona. The Yacht-Master is quite a modern model and does not really belong to our collection. However, it's just awesome! This reference 16628 dates back to 1997. The 18k yellow-gold case, bezel and Oyster bracelet are in great condition. What we like, is the white dial with black markers and 18k yellow-gold hourmarker surroundings and details. The watch runs, just like the Submariner and Sea-Dweller, on a caliber 3135.
Introduction
Rolex Yacht-Master In 1992, Rolex introduced a nautical watch named the Yacht-Master. However, unlike the Submariner, the Yacht-Master was not a tool watch for diving but a luxury watch for boating. More specifically, it was made for yachting so it had to have a luxurious but sportive look. As many say, Rolex achieved this by adjusting a Submariner; bigger hands, bigger markers, smoother edges and a solid bezel with an engraved inlay. The first reference was the 16628, an 18k yellow-gold wrist watch with a case diameter of 40 mm, a white dial, black hour markers and the caliber 3135 (as was used for the Submariner and Sea-Dweller). In 1994, Rolex introduced a midsize and ladysize version. In 1999 the brand presented the steel/platinum version (ref. 16622), which instantly became a success.
