Slightly after World War II, Hans Wilsdorf founded Montres Tudor SA in Geneva. They started creating high quality time pieces made out of all original Rolex parts but bought-in movements to produce solid, high-end watches for a more accesible price.
Tudor Oyster 7960 ‘Elegante’
Its name already says enough; “Elegante”, that’s exactly what this watch is.
This very slim, ‘Oystercase’ dress watch is made by Tudor in the year 1960. It’s made out of stainless steel, carries reference 7960 and runs on the ’21 rubies’ ETA caliber 2402.
On the off-white dial we’ll find the beautiful ‘elongated leaf indexes’, distinguishing radium lumed ‘Alpha hands’ and a blued steel second hand. This very simplistic dress watch in combination with the delicate details is a perfect watch for someone with a subdued but sophisticated style.
