Not every Audemars Piguet needs an octagonal bezel to get our attention. This AP Feather ref. 56478BC is a wonderful example of that.

The dial is factory-set with pavé diamonds, with sapphire hour markers adding a touch of blue to the otherwise monochrome look. The elliptical bezel is factory-set with diamonds too, just in case the pavé dial wasn't quite enough. The five-piece link bracelet is just as interesting. Its outer and central links are hand-engraved with a feather-like pattern, which gives the watch its name, while the two connecting rows of links are set with two diamonds per link. The combination of engraving and gem-setting gives the bracelet so much detail to look at.

Measuring around 30mm, the white gold case has more compact proportions than the sports watches for which AP is better known. Inside is the quartz calibre 2508, allowing the case to retain its slim profile.

Condition-wise, this Feather has clearly been worn with great care. The hand-engraved feather pattern remains clearly visible and beautifully intact, as does the diamond setting throughout the watch. Turning it over, the case numbers and hallmarks are also clearly legible, further confirming the excellent overall condition.

Dating to ca. 1990, this Feather shows a different side of Audemars Piguet. A side that, we think, truly deserves attention. It is ready to be enjoyed and comes with the Extracts from the Archive.
