Fancy a funky finish on your Datejust? And lets throw in a rare dial configuration too!

The Rolex Datejust 1611 offers a markedly different take on the classic Datejust, both in finish and in dial execution.

While the Datejust line is often associated with conservative configurations, reference 1611 sits firmly outside that norm. The Morellis finish applied to the bezel and the centre links of the Jubilee bracelet gives the watch a distinctive texture and visual presence, without tipping into excess. It is an uncommon finish that adds character while remaining entirely consistent with the period.

The dial is equally considered. At first glance, a champagne Sigma dial suggests familiarity, but closer inspection reveals a rare marker layout: brilliant-cut diamond hour markers combined with applied baton markers at 6 and 9 o’clock. This configuration is seldom seen and introduces a clear sense of structure, preventing the diamonds from dominating the dial while maintaining balance and legibility.

Dated to 1973, this example is notable not only for its rarity but also for its condition. The case, dial, and bracelet present exceptionally well, making this a strong and coherent example of one of the more unconventional Datejust references produced by Rolex.

A Datejust that stands apart through detail, finish, and an unusual yet well-resolved dial configuration.
