Long before the Royal Oak came out, Audemars Piguet had made a name for itself by producing some of the world’s most exquisite and complicated dress watches. This diamond-set dual time from the exclusive Jules Audemars line pays homage to that tradition. This reference 25685BC from 1995 sports a beautiful stepped 18k white-gold case. Despite its rather large size for a dress watch, namely 36 mm, the elegant short lugs ensure that the watch maintains a classy appearance. Most versions of the 25685 feature a classic white dial with painted Roman numerals. This execution, however, sports an uncommon black dial with brilliant-cut diamond indices and elegant white-gold leaf hands. The dial also features a number of handy complications. A sub dial at the 6 o’clock position displays a second time zone function, while a sub dial between the two- and three-hour position indicates the date. Meanwhile, a power reserve indicator is incorporated on the left hand side of the dial. The 25685 is powered by Audemars Piguet’s ultra thin caliber 2129 automatic movement, ensuring a slim profile that can easily slide under the cuff of your shirt. The watch comes on a black alligator-leather Audemars Piguet strap with an 18k white-gold Audemars Piguet signed buckle.

Introduction

Audemars PiguetAudemars Piguet is among the holy trinity Swiss maisons d’horlogerie alongside Patek Philippe and Vacheron Constantin. Audemars Piguet has a storied history of producing high-complication watches. It all started in 1875, when Jules Louis Audemars and Edward Auguste Piguet founded the company in the heart of the Vallée de Joux, Le Brassus, Switzerland. This pure, rough and wild landscape, with deep, dark forests, ice-cold waters and the omnipresence of rocks and hills, provided inspiration and raw materials for the Swiss watch manufacture to develop the finest watches. Since its inception, Audemars Piguet has specialized in rare, valuable and highly-complicated watches like perpetual calendars, chronographs and chiming watches. Nowadays, the emphasis of Audemars Piguet lies on the iconic Royal Oak line.
