Officially archived as 'Rectangulaire Cintrée', but this American Beauty is better known for its appearance in the Thomas Crown Affair; on the wrist of Steve McQueen.

We all know the most important French jeweller in history. Not many know they also have a well-appreciated and important design office in London. But how about the creations originating from New York and crafted for the Stateside market. Enter the 21612 -known by many names- but of course remembered for its appearance in cinema.

This Cartier Tank Rectangulaire Cintrée has all the hallmarks of the brand, including a white dial with black Roman numerals and railroad track. The watch has blued hands and a blue cabochon-topped winding crown. The extremely elongated and curved brass case, instead, is gold-plated. Furthermore, the dial reads "Swiss" at the bottom of the dial, as this specimen did not originate from Europe. The movement is Swiss: the manual wind calibre 2412 ETA. It has undergone a (recent) full revision by the Maison. Additionally, a gold plated buckle is attached to the black croc strap.
