This Cartier Santos Galbee is an amazing piece of horological history. Even though women were already wearing watches on their wrists by the early 1900s, men were still sporting rather large pocket watches. This began to change when Mr. Louis Cartier personally designed the first men’s wristwatch for his dear friend and Brazilian aviation pioneer Alberto Santos-Dumont in 1904. Now, 116 years later we have a beautiful ladies version of the Cartier Santos for your pleasure. The square case is sized at an elegant 34.5 mm x 23.5 mm. The case and the distinctive ‘screwed’ bezel and bracelet are executed in 18k yellow-gold, matching the champagne colour of the dial. We particularly love the deep engraved interlocking “C” Cartier logo on the clasp. And, of course, in true Cartier style, the crown is topped with a sapphire cabochon.  Cartier has undoubtedly committed a grave sin with the modern ‘supersized’ Santos model line, but thanks to the magnificence of the vintage ones we’ll definitely forgive them.
