The Tank Chinoise was introduced in 1929. Its design got inspired by the architecture of the Chinese temples. The Tank Chinoise, reference 2684H, we have on offer belongs to the Collection Privée Cartier Paris (CPCP). This collection consists of vintage-looking Cartier watches and was a celebration of what the brand has achieved when it comes to casedesigns. This collection ran from 1998 to 2008. All movements used for the CPCP watches were made by other watch brands, like Jaeger-LeCoultre and Piaget and then finished by Cartier. A nice feature of the Collection Privée watches is the 'Paris' under 'Cartier' on the dial. The Tank Chinoise we have on offer was made in 2008 and sold in 2009. The case is 18k rose gold just as the buckle. The watch is paired with a matte-black, alligator-leather Cartier strap.
Introduction
Cartier Tank It was a tribute to the Allied Troops and their tanks. Hence, the name and the form. The model started in 1917 but made public in 1919 once the peace had returned. Tank watches are easily recognizable because of their crossbars, sidepieces and their rectangular or square form. It belongs to the most important watches in history and it is one of the pillars of Cartier. No wonder that, for example Andy Warhol, Jackie Kennedy, Yves Saint Laurent, Frank Sinatra and Calvin Klein, all wore one.
