It was 1930 when Jaeger-Le-Coultre was challenged to design a wristwatch that could withstand the polo matches of British army officers during the colonial era down in British India.Jaeger-LeCoultre didn’t only succeed in creating a watch that was solid enough to protect against possible mallet strokes but they also succeed in creating an extraordinary elegant dress watch that is still highly sought-after nowadays. This beautiful and functional timepiece is made out of stainless steel and has a case size of 26 by 42 millimeter. The watch is powered by the manually wounding, JLC 836 caliber and dates back to the early 2000’s.Underneath the sapphire crystal we’ll find a two-tone, silver and white dial. The watch features a blued steel ‘sword’ handset including decentral seconds just above the 6 O’ clock position. Besides the normal hands this piece includes a red-arrow date marker and a day window in the upper left corner. To complete this watch, which is in remarkable condition, it is fitted on its original, glossy, crocodile strap including the Jaeger-LeCoultre buckle.
Jaeger- LeCoultreThe watchmaking empire all started when Antoine LeCoultre created a machine to produce watch parts in the year 1833. After creating some very accurate measuring instruments in the following years LeCoultre teamed up with his son to build a place where they could put together all the expertise and instrument to build watches there selves. The first ‘Manufacture’ in the Vallee du Joux district was born!In 1903 the Parisian watchmaker Edmond Jaeger challenged Antoine LeCoultre’s grandson, who took over the company, to build a few calibers that Jaeger had invented. That worked out very well over the years and led to the founding of Jaeger-LeCoultre in 1937.
