First series 2525. Wenger-case Calatrava never disappoints, especially if it showcases such an impeccable condition and appealing oxidation.
This reference spawns close to a decade of production and was introduced in 1953. The one we have on offer here belongs to the first series, dating to 1954. The difference to the later variants, apart from its rarity, is in the case and the movement. Both series have dials made by Stern Freres, and series feature cases made by Wenger. However, the first versions have a snap on caseback, as opposed to the screw-down ones on later examples. The diameter is 36mm and has an amazing construction: Concave bezel, sunken crown and faceted lugs. Cherry on the cake is the oxidation.
The dial lay-out feels quite contemporary. It has pointy faceted markers, matching the handset, and an Arabic 12. The subtle decentral seconds brings in a little playful twist.
We initially pictured it on a brown strap, but later opted for a black alligator one instead. (hence the variety of the strap in the photo's). Needless to say, it comes with a strap of your choice. Additionally there is an extract of the archives confirming the configuration and date of production.
