Rarely, do we see an anthracite dial on a Rolex Datejust. This is probably the coolest regular 1601 we have in our store. Just look at the dial! First of all, anthracite grey is winning! Second, you can't go wrong with the classic pie pan design. The watch is in pristine condition and is still strapped to its original folded Jubilee bracelet. The dial is protected by a sexy plexi crystal and the watch runs on the caliber 1570.
Introduction
Rolex DatejustAfter World-war 2 Rolex created the first self-winding waterproof chronometer wristwatch that featured a date indication. For the first 10 years of production the date, shown at the 3 o’clock position, was not yet enhanced by the well-known ‘Cyclop lens’. This lens was introduced in 1955 and magnified the date by 2.5 times. The Cyclop lens isn’t the only invention, that we can still see up to today, the Datejust set in motion. The Jubilee bracelet was designed especially for the Datejust. The iconic elegance of this 5 piece bracelet is a great match to –arguably- one of the best buys in the vintage watch market.REF. 1601The Datejust 16xx series were produced between the 1960’s and the 1970’s. If you are looking for a vintage ‘daily beater’ this might be the perfect watch for you. These affordable and user friendly Rolexes possess a timeless elegance that can be combined with any outfit and every occasion. The Datejust is usually fitted with a Jubilee bracelet (which is especially designed for the Datejust)The ref. 1601 was with a fluted bezel and was available in all steel, white, yellow and rose gold or a combination. The dial colour and configuration varies. Characteristic for this era of production is the so-called ‘Pie-Pan’ dial were the dial looks like an upside-down pie-pan. (a concentric ring that slopes down from the flat centre).
