Most people that were in the market for a precious metal Rolex opted for the Day-Date. As a result, fewer gold Datejusts exist. Today, the prices are still lower than your average Day-Date, making them a huge bang for your buck. This 16018 specimen was produced in 1986. We love the wonderful deep black dial on this Datejust. Together with the gold printing and slightly creamy tritium lume dots, the watch takes on a lovely appearance. The dial is also adorned with brilliant-cut diamond hour markers in the old-school understated Rolex setting. When paired with a tight 18k gold jubilee bracelet this watch becomes the perfect daily wrist companion.

On the tenth anniversary of the Datejust in 1955, the magnifying ‘cyclops lens’ was introduced on the Datejust.Reference 16XXXThe Datejust 16xxx (5 digits) references were introduced in the late 1970s and are easily recognizable by their flat dials. This ‘newer’ Datejust came with the updated calibre 3035 that introduced the quick set date function.
