Sodalite is a rich blue, rocky mineral that is often used as an ornamental gemstone. A Rolex Datejust by itself is a treat and if you have been following us for a while you've probably already seen some amazing pieces by now. However, this reference 16234 truly is something special! Why? Well, underneath the sapphire crystal, we find a rare stone dial from sodalite, set with diamond index. Since stone dials are quite fragile, most of them have cracks. This one only has a very thin hairline between the 9- and 10-hour position. The watch dates back to 1995. Iy has a case from stainless steel, with a diameter of 36 mm and an 18k white-gold fluted bezel in crisp condition. It runs on the calibre 3135 and comes on a stretch-free, stainless steel Jubilee bracelet.

Introduction

Rolex DatejustIn 1945 Rolex created the flagship Datejust to mark the company’s 40th anniversary. This model was the world’s first self-winding wristwatch with a date indication. With the Datejust, Rolex also introduced the iconic 5-piece jubilee bracelet, first in solid gold and later in bicolor and stainless steel. On the tenth anniversary of the Datejust in 1955, the magnifying ‘cyclops lens’ was introduced on the Datejust.
