Executed with a magnificent green vignette effect, the dial of this ref. 1803/9 transitions from a rich forest green at the centre to deep black around the outer edge. Adding to its striking appearance, the traditional gold hour markers have been replaced by brilliant-cut diamonds, alternated with baguette-cut diamonds at the quarters.

More importantly, this green dial is quite the rare bird. The vast majority of vignette dials were fitted to yellow gold Day-Dates, while only very few were made for white gold examples. And no, you can’t simply put any vignette dial into a white gold case and call it a day. Details such as the colour of the printing and the coronet have to correspond with the case metal. Impressively, the Stella lacquer remains remarkably well preserved, showing no cracks or hairlines whatsoever.

The 36 mm case, crafted from 18K white gold, is equally impressive. It remains in exceptional condition, with thick lugs and sharp, well-defined lines. The matching 18K white gold President bracelet is exceedingly tight and crisp as well, suggesting that this watch has seen very little use since its production in 1973.

As if all of that weren’t enough, there is another rather special detail hiding inside the clasp. A closer look reveals that the bracelet is a rare “Made in Japan” execution, perfectly complementing the original Japanese papers that accompany the watch. The papers date its original sale to 1974. It is further accompanied by its original box and booklets.
