An absolute 'stickered' barn find.

They don't come any more NOS (new-old-stock) than this. This stunning, untouched, Rolex Day-Date ref. 18038 is in a condition you would compare with something that just left the factory as you can tell by the original stickers still being around the case and case back. As you are all well aware by now is that the Rolex Day-Date is amongst our favorite models to have in our collection. Especially with rare configurations such as this.

The Rolex Day-Date is a true pioneer: the first automatic, waterproof, chronometer wristwatch that indicated both the date and day of the week. The 18xxx series, introduced in 1978, is the fourth generation of Day-Dates. This ref. 18038 dates back to 1983 and houses Rolex’ caliber 3055 self-winding movement with a single quickset function, allowing for the independent adjustment of the date disc.

Now the absolute star of the show is the dial that can't be missed. The original, factory diamond paved, dial is filled with brilliant cut diamonds and Onyx on the indices. A combination that is rarely seen and as such Rolex probably believed to keep the integrity of the dial undisturbed. Hence we can see that the Rolex coronet and brand are printed on the inside of the sapphire crystal.

The 36 mm case is executed in 18K yellow gold and comes attached to the iconic President' bracelet with concealed folding clasp which obviously is extremely tight; zero stretch. The watch is accompanied by the original box, booklet, receipt and papers. Coming from a family member of the first owner. Ready to be picked up by its new owner like it was still the same day!
