With precious beauties like this we really should rename ourselves Amsterdam Prehistoric Watches.

And we mean prehistoric in the literal sense, since this Day-Date features a dial made from fossilized remains that are hundreds of millions of years old. Such fossil dials are extremely rare as they cracked even during production.

The sand-colored fossil dial is enhanced with the application of 10 factory-set diamond indices, carefully laid in 18k yellow gold chatons. The 36 mm Oyster case is executed in 18k yellow gold and features a matching gold fluted bezel and the iconic President bracelet with a concealed Rolex clasp.

This rare Day-Date dates back to 1994 and is powered by the caliber 3155 automatic movement with a handy quickset date and day function. The watch is in excellent condition with thick lugs and sharp lines and is accompanied by the Rolex service papers from 2017 and a box.

Introduction

Rolex Day-DateIn 1956, Rolex introduced one the most iconic watches ever made: the Day-Date. The Day-Date was the first waterproof self-winding chronometer certified wristwatch with a day and date function. And to top it off, it was only available in gold or platinum! Rolex also designed a new three-link bracelet, known as the ‘President,’ to pair with this special watch. With the exception of the most modern executions, the Day-Date comes exclusively in a 36mm case.
