With precious beauties like this we really should rename ourselves Amsterdam Prehistoric Watches.
And we mean prehistoric in the literal sense, since this Day-Date features a dial made from fossilised remains that are hundreds of millions of years old. Such fossil dials are extremely rare as they cracked even during production.
The sand-coloured fossil dial is enhanced with the application of 10 factory-set diamond indices, carefully laid in 18k yellow gold chatons. The 36 mm Oyster case is executed in 18k yellow gold and features a matching gold fluted bezel and the iconic President bracelet with a concealed Rolex clasp.
This rare Day-Date dates back to 1999 and is powered by the caliber 3155 automatic movement with a handy quickset date and day function. The watch is in excellent condition with thick lugs and sharp lines and is accompanied by fresh Rolex service papers and its original box and papers.
Introduction
Rolex Day-DateIn 1956, Rolex introduced one the most iconic watches ever made: the Day-Date. The Day-Date was the first waterproof self-winding chronometer certified wristwatch with a day and date function. And to top it off, it was only available in gold or platinum! Rolex also designed a new three-link bracelet, known as the ‘President,’ to pair with this special watch. With the exception of the most modern executions, the Day-Date comes exclusively in a 36mm case.
