A Rolex Day-Date with a Marble dial?!

No, this is a common mistake as Rolex has never made a marble dial. The dial on this Day-Date is in fact made of howlite, a borate mineral that indeed has a lovely marble-like white appearance with gray, black, or brown streaks.

This reference 18238 Day-Date is executed in an 18k yellow gold Oyster case, measuring in at a classic 36 mm. The 18k yellow gold fluted bezel and president bracelet give the watch the classic appearance matching the dial more than perfect. The lovely howlite dial features applied 18k yellow-gold Roman numerals and a closed 18k yellow-gold handset. The watch dates back to 1990 and houses the caliber 3155 automatic movement with a convenient double quickset function that allows the day and date to be adjusted separately.

The watch is in exceptional condition, with a tight bracelet and beautiful, sharp case.

Introduction

Rolex Day-DateIn 1956 Rolex introduced one the most iconic watches ever made: the Day-Date. The Day-Date was the first waterproof self-winding chronometer certified wristwatch with a day and date function. And to top it off, it was only available in gold or platinum! Rolex also designed a new three-link bracelet, known as the ‘President,’ to pair with this special watch. With exception of the most modern executions, the Day-Date comes exclusively in a 36 mm case.
