Originating from Germany, sold to us by the original owner. A very specific and interesting configuration, to say the least.
Let us start with the star of the show: let us introduce you to the 'Pleiade dial'. Made by Beyeler out of an 18K yellow gold plaque. The hour markers are set on the dial with diamonds, but the bling doesn't stop there. The rest of the dial is also adorned with brilliant cuts that are set into the dial plate and display a beautiful motive. The brand- and modelname are applied on cartouches at respectively the 12 and 6 o'clock position.
It is set in a the iconic 36 mm 18k yellow gold case. This Day-Date comes with a special reference number, 18388, with the first ‘3’ indicating that the lugs are factory-set with diamonds and the first ‘8’ referring to the factory-set diamond bezel. As the 18338 is a sub-reference of the 182xx-series Day-Dates, it houses the caliber 3155 automatic movement with a double-quickset function. This allows you to independently adjust the day, date, and time.
Very few dials can hold their own against the gem-set splendor of this case, but the Pleiade dial is the perfect accompaniment. The original owner told us he opted for a Bark-finished President bracelet (at extra cost) rather than a regular one to add even more unusual elements. The interplay between textures and gems gives this watch such a lively effect, particularly when light hits it from different angles. This splendid beauty dates back to 1999 and is in pristine condition with a razorsharp case and virtually stretch free bracelet. It comes as a full set.
