Hallelujah! Rolex finally brought back the 36 mm Explorer I!The Explorer I is the most understated of Rolex’ legendary toolwatches. It is perfectly at home being worn while weathering the most extreme conditions or simply as an everyday watch. Though the Explorer I has gone through various iterations since its introduction in the 1950s, two constants have remained: the characteristic 3-6-9 dial and the 36 mm diameter.Much to our disappointment, Rolex discontinued the 36 mm Explorer I in 2010, leaving only the larger 39 mm version. Thankfully, the mistake was rectified this year and the classic Explorer I we know and love is back in all its 36 mm glory.The ref. 124270 features a 36 mm stainless steel Oyster case with a polished steel bezel and a matching stainless steel Oyster bracelet. The black dial, much less shiny than on previous iterations of the Explorer I, sports applied 18k white-gold hour markers and the iconic applied Arabic numerals at the 3, 6, and 9 o’clock positions. A generous application of Chromalight luminous compound in the markers and numerals ensures that the dial remains perfectly legible even at night.The watch is in perfect condition and comes as a full set with the original box and papers and 5 years of Rolex factory warranty.
