Rolex Oyster Perpetual 6590 ‘Bombay’
Bombay, which is officially called Mumbai, is with almost 13 million inhabitants the biggest city of India. Furthermore, it is the most important port city of the country and world-famous for its film industry. Hence, the nickname Bollywood.
However, it has literally nothing to do with the watch that we have on offer. Bombay is the anglicized version of the French word ‘bombé’ (rounded), which is the nickname of this watch because of the rounded shape of its lugs. The reference 6590 was launched in the ’50s and was the third series of the ‘Bombay’. The watch runs on the caliber 1030. The diameter is 34 mm and the case and buckle are from 18k yellow gold. Something fascinating, are the beautiful details on the dial of this specimen: the golden claw markers, nicely-shaped quarters and dauphine hands. Simply said, this is a dress watch for the classy gentleman.
