50's Rolex dresswatch from Venezuela.

Not exactly the first country you think regarding luxury timepieces. However, Serpico Y Laino is one of the most prominent historic retailers. Hence, they proudly display their name on the dial and additional an engraving on the caseback, which also mentions "Aciero"; indicating the timepiece is made of stainless steel.

The case construction does not incorporate the well-known Oyster system, but instead its rather sleek and features a snap-on caseback; to give it a more elegant look. Yet, we can't help but feel it is still rather sporty due to the choice of metal, the 35mm in diameter and of course because it features a bracelet construction that is similar to the Oyster bracelet. The mushroom crown however, does make it very stylish.

On non waterproof wristwatches, aging of the dial is more common. In this case that is a lucky accident, since it turned into a very warm cream hue. In certain lighting you can even discover a faint fingerprint on the left side of the dial, adding to the uniqueness and the fascinating history of this timepiece. It dates back to 1951 and still has the engraved coronet and serial clearly visible.
