"Amsterdam Vintage Watches has a Rolex Yacht-Master for sale."If you have been following us on social media, you would probably spit out your coffee right now and scream out: "What the heck? What's happening? Is this real?".Yes, dear follower, this is real. We do have a Yacht-Master and we've got to admit that we really like this one. You're right to say that this model is a bit of a stranger in our midst. Why? Well, we like and specialize in the Rolex models that have shaped the brand, that were there from the beginning, that form the roots of Rolex. We're talking about the models that were introducted during the '40s, '50s and '60 like the Datejust, Submariner and Daytona. So, the Yacht-Master (that was launched in the '90s) does not really belong to our collection. However, this doesn't mean that this watch isn't awesome. Because of that we just wanted to have one.The reference 16622 was introduced in '99 and it was a great success from the start. This piece is quite modern as it dates back to 2009. The stainless steel case and platinum bezel are both in great condition. The dial is also made from platinum and you can definetely feel the weight. What we like, is the unique light-grey colour of the face, with the modelname printed in red font (matching to the red second hand). The watch runs, just like the Submariner and Sea-Dweller, on a caliber 3135. The watch comes with the inner and outer box and booklets.

Introduction

Rolex Yacht-Master In 1992, Rolex introduced a nautical watch named the Yacht-Master. However, unlike the Submariner, the Yacht-Master was not a tool watch for diving but a luxury watch for boating. More specifically, it was made for yachting so it had to have a luxurious but sportive look. As many say, Rolex achieved this by adjusting a Submariner; bigger hands, bigger markers, smoother edges and a solid bezel with an engraved inlay. The first reference was the 16628, an 18k yellow-gold wrist watch with a case diameter of 40mm, a white dial, black hour markers and the caliber 3135 (as was used for the Submariner and Sea-Dweller). In 1994, Rolex introduced a midsize and ladysize version. In 1999 the brand presented the steel/platinum version (ref. 16622), which instantly became a success.
