A well preserved and elusive chronograph from the 40's by Breguet.
Early Breguet's are always hard to find as they were produced in very small numbers. Enter this chronograph that dates back to an era where horological aesthetics and mechanics were quickly developing. This 3-piece case measures a decent 33mm in diameter and is crafted out of 18k yellow gold. It has a snapback and square pushers to operate the chronograph function. The lugs feature gold bars, that are attached by screw, to carry the leather strap. The case is kept in great condition for its age and still shows the hallmark on the side of the case, right under the smooth bezel.
The graceful brandname has a unique number underset: 319. The only other publicly traded example has number 318. This specimen however, is of greater quality; with all due respect to the previous mentioned piece. The dial shows hardly any blemishes or aging, as the bright blue tachymeter scale -and the black printing of the minute track and counters- are still untarnished. The applied Arabic and dot indices for the hours are executed in yellow gold, matching the no-nonsense handset.
Inside we find a Valjoux 23 based chronograph, with the movement number corresponding to the dial and case. This early chronograph is as refined as practical. Just like the rest of the watch, the movement remains in great shape. The watch comes with its original precious-metal buckle.
