The Cartier Baignoire is based on an unnamed design from 1912 that was gifted by Louis Cartier to Russian Grand Duchess Pavlovna. The model was only released to the general public in 1957 under the ‘baignoire’ moniker, from the French word for bathtub. Fittingly, this elegant ladies model gives us the same fuzzy feeling as slipping into a warm bathtub! The Baignoire takes the traditional round watch shape but stretches and curves it into an evocative feminine design. This 18k yellow gold Baignoire measures 20 x 28 mm, a perfect ladies size that is neither hefty nor diminutive. Traditionally, the Bagnoire comes on a simple leather strap. This ref. 1967, however, features an exquisite 18k yellow gold bracelet with oval links that are modelled after the Baignoire case shape. The integration of the concealed lugs in the caseback means that the bracelet can easily be swapped for a leather strap whenever you fancy. The ivory dial sports Cartier's iconic painted Roman numerals and blued sword hands. As tradition dictates, the crown is topped by a blue sapphire cabochon This Baignoire dates back to the mid-1990s and is powered by a handy quartz movement. The watch has just been serviced by Cartier and comes with the corresponding service papers as well as a two-year Cartier service warranty.
