Unbelievably rare and beautiful. Happy to introduce you to this Datejust 1600 from 1970 in 18K yellow gold. A domed bezel Datejust from this era in full gold is rare by itself, but the sign dial on this one takes the cake; the index to be more precise. Original diamond markers add something special to a watch, but this configuration is even more unlikely. For some reason the 6 and 9 o'clock markers remain applied batons instead of baguette diamonds! Unique piece for an extremely affordable price.
Introduction
Rolex DatejustAfter World-war 2 Rolex created the first self-winding waterproof chronometer wristwatch that featured a date indication. For the first 10 years of production the date, shown at the 3 o’clock position, was not yet enhanced by the well-known ‘Cyclop lens’. This lens was introduced in 1955 and magnified the date by 2.5 times. REF. 1600The Datejust 16xx series were produced between the 1960's and the 1970's. If you are looking for a vintage ‘daily beater’ this might be the perfect watch for you. These affordable and user friendly Rolexes possess a timeless elegance that can be combined with any outfit and every occasion. The ref.1600 was with a domed bezel (domed bezel) and was available in all white, yellow and rose gold along with all steel. Characteristic for this era of production is the so-called ‘Pie-Pan’ dial were the dial looks like an upside-down pie-pan. (a concentric ring that slopes down from the flat centre).
