Exceptional, rare, sophisticated, desirable... A 18k rose gold Datejust 1601 says it all.. The black Sigma dial has rose gold printed lines and that's quite exceptional. We put a matt black alligator strap on the watch, just to emphasize the color of the dial and the rose gold. A seventies Datejust in 18k gold is not that common. Most Datejust models are made in stainless steel. This is your chance to own this beauty. Once on your wrist... it will probably stay on..
Introduction
Rolex DatejustAfter World-war II Rolex created the first self-winding waterproof chronometer wristwatch that featured a date indication. For the first 10 years of production the date, shown at the 3 o’clock position, was not yet enhanced by the well-known ‘Cyclop lens’. This lens was introduced in 1955 and magnified the date by 2.5 times. The Cyclop lens isn’t the only invention, that we can still see up to today, the Datejust set in motion. The Jubilee bracelet was designed especially for the Datejust. The iconic elegance of this 5 piece bracelet is a great match to –arguably- one of the best buys in the vintage watch market.REF. 16xx (1600, 1601, 1603)The Datejust 16xx series were produced between the 1960's and the 1970's. If you are looking for a vintage ‘daily beater’ this might be the perfect watch for you. These affordable and user friendly Rolexes possess a timeless elegance that can be combined with any outfit and every occasion. The Datejust is usually fitted with a Jubilee bracelet (which is especially designed for the Datejust) however the 1600 reference also had the option of an Oyster bracelet. This ref.1600 was with a domed bezel (domed bezel) and was available in all white, yellow and rose gold along with all steel. The ref. 1601 was with a fluted bezel and was available in all steel, white, yellow and rose gold or a combination. However the ref.1603 was only made in steel and has a steel engine turned bezel. The dial colour and configuration varies. Characteristic for this era of production is the so-called ‘Pie-Pan’ dial were the dial looks like an upside-down pie-pan. (a concentric ring that slopes down from the flat centre).
