A Rare British Jewel: Rolex 6305 in 9ct Yellow Gold
Discover timeless sophistication with the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust 6305, a masterpiece of horological design crafted in solid 9ct yellow gold—a rarity produced specifically for the UK market. Unlike its global counterparts, which favored 18ct gold, this 9ct variant was made to comply with British hallmarking standards of the 1950s, making it a unique and highly collectible piece in the world of vintage Rolex.
This reference exudes vintage elegance. Featuring the fluted bezel, but with a more refined milling; typical for the 50's. It also sports the beloved pie-pan dial, in this case aged to perfection as it developed a beautiful pattern. The applied arrowhead markers compliment the faceted hands and the framed date aperture; which proudly shows the original "roulette" date wheel. On one of the lugs and inside the caseback you will see the hallmarks that reveal the rare alloy used.
The 36mm measuring case remain well-proportioned and houses the robust caliber 1035 automatic movement, it’s not only a watch of extraordinary beauty but a testament to Rolex engineering.
The straight-endlink bracelet is a thing of beauty. A 7-row construction with faceted links and alternating surface decoration. Playful and visually striking. Albeit not signed Rolex, we do have reasons to believe this watch was delivered to the client with this bracelet by the British AD. The hallmarks in the clasp not only confirm the matching metal to the case and all other components, but also a year stamp from the second half of the 1950's. By its 5-digit serial one could date this watch to 1955.
Whether you're a collector searching for a historically significant timepiece or a connoisseur of understated luxury, the 6305 in 9ct gold is an opportunity to own a piece of Rolex history that very few can claim. British-born, globally admired.
