Amsterdam Vintage Watches always brings the heat when it comes to Day-Dates. Whether you’re looking for a yellow-gold one with a classic champagne dial, a funky lacquered 'stella' execution, or a precious stone dial, we’re your one stop shop. This week we’ve outdone ourselves yet again. This exceptional Day-Date carries the reference 18026. The first thing you’ll notice when picking it up is that it feels substantially heavier than a ‘regular’ Day-Date. That’s courtesy of the platinum case and bracelet, which are approximately 34% heavier than their 18k gold brethren. The second thing you’ll notice is the radiating brilliance of the factory-set bezel and dial. The dial is executed in a luxurious full-paved diamond setting and features sky-blue brilliant-cut sapphire hour markers and baguette-cut sapphire markers at the 6 and 9 o’clock positions. As the bezel is fully set with diamonds, the traditional printed text and the Rolex coronet are replaced by two small applied plaques at the 6 and 12 o’clock positions that read “ROLEX” and “DAY-DATE”.The watch dates back to 1986 and sports the improved caliber 3055, which for the first time introduced a quickset date function in the Day-Date line. The 36 mm platinum case is in amazing condition with thick lugs and razor sharp edges. The accompanying platinum President bracelet with concealed clasp is in excellent condition as well, displaying little stretch.

Introduction

Rolex Day-DateIn 1956, Rolex introduced one the most iconic watches ever made: the Day-Date. The Day-Date was the first waterproof self-winding chronometer certified wristwatch with a day and date function. And to top it off, it was only available in gold or platinum! Rolex also designed a new three-link bracelet, known as the ‘President,’ to pair with this special watch. With exception of the most modern executions, the Day-Date comes exclusively in a 36mm case.
