An “MK3 Double-Red” Sea-Dweller, acquired from a Dutch sailor. Cool provenance, spectacular look.

Somewhere in 2022, a local gentleman with the name of Robbert, visited our store. He pulled out a charming tool watch by Rolex. He has held on to this Sea-Dweller since he purchased it half a century ago. But now it was time to let go, and we are extremely grateful he gave us the chance to purchase it. Jasper kept this specimen in his own collection for the past 5 years, but decided to offer it and search for the next caretaker.

The watch needed some love. At a certain point the bracelet and caseback have been replaced by Rolex. As it had been enjoyed for such a long time, it clearly showed; especially in the scratches of the crystal. It was hard to see the dial because of this, but when we dismantled it we were blown away by the charming MK3 dial. Absolutely spotless, creamy patina and nicely discolored hands. We decided to have the case middle polished in order to match the pristine aesthetics of the dial. Luckily the case was still very thick, hence our polishing artisan was able to bring out the nice chamfers on the lugs. This iconic vintage watch came back to live. To top it all off: it has a mesmerizing charcoal-colored bezel inlay!

Many stories were shared with the previous owner, who regularly used his watch on water. Jasper took a picture with him and he provided some additional pictures -by e-mail- where he could be seen wearing this 1665. A special watch, coming from a special owner.
