After decades and decades of blood, sweat and tears. I, "Monsieur Tudor" have achieved what many have tried but never succeeded. I present to you all; a breathtaking Tudor Oysterdate Chronograph 'Homeplate'.

Let me first give you all a bit of a history lesson. The Oysterdate Chronograph was launched in 1970 and was Tudor's first attempt at a chronograph. There were two references, the ref. 7031 and the ref. 7032. Both were exactly the same except for the tachymeter bezel. One being with an acrylic bezel and the other coming with a steel bezel. I guess you could compare that with the Rolex Daytona ref. 6263 and the 6265. Later on Tudor even showed us a third reference, being the 7033 which had a rotatable bezel as seen on its modern re-release from 2010 but they just never released it so it remained in the Tudor vault which I have been lucky enough to have seen in real life, amongst many other legendary pieces and even prototypes. During this time the Rolex Daytona came in at 36mm whilst these Tudor's came in a relatively large 40mm case and crown guards.

Now enough with all the technical *bs* and let's have a look at this prime example. When it comes to collecting Tudor's, this one right here is most definitely a must-have in your collection and in my humble opinion, the Paul Newman of Tudor. Now why is it called a 'Homeplate' you may ask? Well if you take a look at the hour markers, what do they remind you of? Exactly, the home plates we see in baseball. In this example they have turned to a stunning light brown hue which matches perfectly with the hands. Underneath the dial that is in an applaudable condition sits the Valjoux caliber 7734 which ensures it runs like a charm.

The watch features a date complication at six o’clock on the dial, that is viewable through an acrylic cyclops that is mounted horizontally, which was a first in the Rolex family. The bezel shows some slight marks here and there but considering its rarity it is an absolute blessing to still have the original one on this watch. That and the original Rolex P301 pushers being present ensure its next owner she is in an all original condition.

Hesitate no more and let's show the team here at Amsterdam Vintage Watches that Tudor deserves a spot on the field (pun intended).
