A mechanical gem through and through, this exquisite timepiece features an intricate integrated bracelet with removable links and a dial adorned with diamonds, opal, and lapis lazuli.
Some of the most daring and imaginative watches emerged from Le Brassus in the 1980s, and this creation undoubtedly ranks among them. While many gem-set watches from that era were powered by quartz movements, this rare reference houses a thin mechanical calibre. The allure, therefore, is not only skin-deep; though its exterior certainly steals the spotlight.
The 34mm case showcases harmonious proportions, with a gently concealed crown tucked beneath the glittering bezel. Beyond the diamond-set hour markers and bezel, an additional ring of diamonds elegantly divides the dial into two sections. The central portion shimmers with a captivating opal, while the outer section is composed of deep blue lapis lazuli. The opal, seldom seen in watchmaking, catches the light in a truly mesmerizing way. An applied AP logo at 12 o’clock and slender baton hands complete this refined composition.
The integrated bracelet is a masterpiece in its own right - finely crafted, beautifully finished, and perfectly complementing the watch’s aesthetic. At full length it measures 18cm, yet it can be easily resized for smaller wrists thanks to its screw links.
Remarkably well-preserved, the watch displays crisp hallmarks and virtually no signs of wear. To underscore its rarity, we could identify only one other example of this reference: a yellow gold variant featuring lapis lazuli and onyx. Yet, in our view, the white metal version with opal seen here is nearly impossible to surpass.
