Imagine, you own a vacation house near your favourite beach. Of course you have acquired yourself a boat and to have some fun on your holidays – why not – you have also bought yourself a jet ski. What watch would you wear in that case? The Patek Philippe Aquanaut of course! However, what if you would have a vacation house located in a different timezone? In that case, you will need an Aquanaut Travel Time because you want to be able to see what time it is back home if you're riding your jet ski. In 2007, Patek Philippe replaced the old Aquanaut references by the new reference 5167A. In 2011, the Aquanaut Travel Time - reference 5164 in stainless steel - got launched and in 2016, the Swiss brand introduced the rose-gold version. The latter is the one we have on offer. The 5164 is the first Aquanaut with a complication. It features, next to the date in a subdial, an extra timezone and a day/night indiator. However, despite these complications the dial has maintained its prototype-like, clean look. The 5164R-001 is slightly more sophisticated as its highly-polished case with brushed finish on the round, octagonal bezel is from 18k rose gold. It measures 40.8 mm in diameter and is powered by the upgraded calibre 324 S C FUS, which was based on the 324 S C. Instead of black, the embossed dial is brown which goes very well with the warm tones of rose gold. Furthermore, the tropical strap (rubber strap if you will) not only mirrors the texture of the dial but also has the same brown colour and an 18k rose-gold butterfly clasp. The watch dates back to 2018, comes with its inner and outer box, its certificate of origin and the booklets.
Introduction
Patek Philippe AquanautIntroduced in 1997 under reference 5060, this luxurious sports watch probably is the most iconic timepiece of the ‘90s. A recognizable, steel octogonal case - pretty similar to that of its bigger brother the Nautilus - but fitted on a tropical (rubber if you will) strap. The first watch ever made by Patek Philippe that came on a rubber strap. The strap even matches the embossed dial. It measured 36 mm in diameter and was powered by the, for watch connaisseurs, famous calibre 330 SC.
