A gem from the "rare handcrafts" collection with a dial that took 108 hours to produce!
A half hunting cased, Calatrava style, white gold wristwatch made for Patek Philippe’s 175th anniversary. For these limited edition wristwatches, Patek Philippe has given new life to the oldest form of decorative art associated with watchmaking. The solid white-gold dial is hand- engraved with scenes of of the old Lake Geneva with the famous Jet d'eau de Geneve. Only the best artisans worked on this piece of art, using the low-relief, or en modelé, technique. The depth of the engraving may be as much as three tenths of a millimeter.
Most appreciation naturally goes to the outside, but the beating hard of this Calatrava shouldn't be overlooked either. Automatic winding, calibre 240, stamped with the PP Seal, Gyromax balance and gold microrotor.
These watches are not delivered in the anniversary box, do not feature the anniversary deployant clasp and do not come with the commemorative coin. However, it is a full set and only worn a dozen of times by the original owner. Another example, of only a handful ever produced, belongs the the well-respected OAK collection.
