A vintage Daytona is rare and coveted, one with a "Big Red" dial becomes even harder to attain, but to spice it up even more: this one also has the "Sigma"!

The ref. 6265 has the illustrious distinction of being the last vintage Daytona and the Daytona that has enjoyed the longest production run, from 1971 until 1987 when it was replaced by the automatic Cosmograph. It is characterised by a metal bezel and screw-down pushers.

It sports a silver sunbrushed dial with contrasting recessed subdials. This dial configuration is known as a ‘panda’ dial among collectors due to its resemblance with a giant panda’s white face and black eye patches. This specific "Sigma Big Red" dial was in production for a very short period of time in the mid 70's. It is regarded as a transitional configuration, when the "Big Red" followed up on the "Sigma" dial. This occurred in the serial range of 3.9m to 4.2m. This one having a 3.97m serial number. The dial is in mesmerising condition with thick creamy tritium dots that match luminous compound in the hour and minute hands. Moreover, the subdials have an amazing purple brownish/ anthracite hue, depending on how the light hits it.

The 37mm stainless steel case is thick and sharp and sports the original MK1 screw-down pushers. The bezel is strong and the black lacquer is vivid. The Oyster bracelet is still supplied with the watch as it dates to the same year. This timepiece was owned by a Dutch race-enthusiast who covered this passion in media, both televised and written. After his passing it was left to his son who trusted us with this gem of a Daytona.
