Of all the complications in existence, Patek Philippe is perhaps associated the most with the perpetual calendar.

In fact, it was Patek Philippe that for the first time integrated this highly complex mechanism in a watch that could be worn on the wrist in 1925. Since then, Patek has released a wonderful line-up of slim and classy dress watches with a perpetual calendar complication.

The 5039 was produced from 1996 to 2007 prior to being replaced by the larger ref. 5139, making it the last truly vintage perpetual calendar dress watch produced by Patek Philippe. This ref. 5039R dates back to 2004 and is executed in a 36 mm 18k rose gold case with thin straight lugs and Patek Philippe’s iconic Clous de Paris (hobnail) bezel. The case sports a sapphire see-through case back through which one can view the beautifully finished and highly praised caliber 240 ultra-thin automatic movement with its 21k gold micro rotor.

The classic opaline dial features 18k rose gold pointed baton markers and elegant 18k rose gold dauphine hands. The charming recessed sub-register at the 9 o’clock position displays the days of the week and a handy 24-hour counter, while the month as well as the position in the leap-year cycle can be read off of the sub-register at 3 o’clock. Finally, the lower sub-register incorporates a romantic moon phase indicator that is surrounded by the date functionality.

This exceptional perpetual calendar wrist watch is in excellent condition and is accompanied by an extract from the Patek Philippe archives. Furthermore it has been fully revised by Patek Philippe and comes with international warranty. The watch comes on a brown alligator leather Patek Philippe strap with an 18k rose gold Patek Philippe deployant clasp.
